5 Garden Wedding Tips For Brides

Garden weddings are super trendy! Flowers, trees, fresh air and warm atmosphere are a perfect setting for a romantic occasion. Still, there are some things you should remember when choosing your wedding dress – happily we are sharing them right here, keep reading!

#1 Bugs love tulle

I kid you not! When there’s a big, soft tulle hem there most likely will be all kinds of flying and crawling friends in between the layers too. Sirpa from Piirto Photography shared a memory of one bride who got actual ants climbing up her skirt. Yaiks! So think twice about the tulle froufrou – maybe choose something with less layers or keep it short. Here is some inspiration:

#2 Slims heels get stuck in the grass

Soft lawn and sky high stilettos are not the most graceful combination. The sharp heels will sink into the grass like hot knife into butter and you’ll be stumbling down. Pick shoes with sturdier heels or even opt in fot beautiful flats. If you’re determined to wear slim heels, get a pair of clear plastic stoppers like those from Solemates or Gogoheel that effectively keep you from sinking. I can vouch for them, I used a pair at my own wedding.

#3 Wind can be a nuisance

This is particularly true if your wedding happens close to a shore of any kind. It’s always windy by the water. If you’re wearing a veil, it can get tricky very fast when the wind is blowing. Get yourself some magnetic veil weights that keep the veil from flying everywhere. Or skip the long veil and choose something smaller like the bandeau style birdcage veil below here.

#4 Long trains will get dirty

We can always hope for good weather, but the truth is that occasional rains happen. Soggy ground will get muddy underneath the guests feet very quickly and that doesn’t do good for your white hems. Long trains will get dusty and dirty even without rain – gravel and grass are enough. So think over whether you should pick a dress without a train or consult your seamstress on how to bustle the train up for the reception. We also love Trainloop to neatly bustle up the train.

 #5 It can get HOT

When midsummer sun is baking down on your marquee and lawn you might question your decision to skip the air conditioned ballroom. A wedding dress with plenty of layers acts like a down jacket by trapping air inside and insulating you from that blessed gasp of cooler wind. In other words – you’ll sweat like a sinner in church if you’re wearing a wedding dress with a big hem. You can fight the sweats by dusting yourself with baby powder before getting dressed, and staying in shade. Or you can pick something slim and super comfortable. I can recommend an infinity dress which works beautifully as a bridal look especially when combined with statement accessories or a lace hem.
