Wedding Dress Tips –

Beyond The Wedding Dress

Planning a wedding can be really overwhelming because there’s just so much to decide and do! Now here I am telling you that to make yourself look the dazzling bride you are dreaming about you have to manage tons of more little details that take money and time. I’m not judging if you feel like making a hasty exit back to Pinterest and to continue looking at those gorgeous dress pictures. I most likely would.

BUT those pictures look so very beautiful because they have been styled and fixed very thoroughly. (There might also be some photoshop used…) Those dresses are dressed over proper underwear and just the right kind of petticoats to make their silhouettes perfect. They fit, and they are clean and unwrinkled. You follow me yet? Wedding dress tips coming!

My Four Steps For Gorgeous Look

In short the secret to take your wedding look from good to dazzling is to work the whole outfit and going beneath the surface instead of just concentrating to the wedding dress. Everything is styled and thought trough from hair and make-up to underwear. Jewelry and accessories to make the outfit look whole and neat and alterations to make the dress fit well. Keep scrolling and I’ll explain the four wedding dress tips in more detail!

underwear

Proper undergarments are the most important thing when it comes to how the dress looks and feels. Some dresses might have corsets and bras sewn inside, but in most cases the supports are flimsy.

Your body may be really toned and fit and you don’t feel like you need any slimming or support, however the good underwear protects the dress from oils and sweat. Secondly it also protects you from friction and makes sure the dress itself drapes beautifully on your body.

Number one reason why the dress you bought doesn’t look like in the picture you’ve seen is because it lacks petticoat. Some bridal boutiques have only one or two models that they offer, so it pays to do some googling to find the perfect fit to your dress as underskirts come in several different shapes and sizes.

alterations

To make the dress really fit you, it often needs some alterations. Hemming is the most typical of them, maybe shortening straps or making some adjustments on waist or bustle. To make your dress fit like a glove, take it to the seamstress to get a professional opinion and help.

Usually the first evaluation is free and you can always decide what you want to be done, you’re in charge after all. A good seamstress can point out things you might not notice and therefore make you feel much more confident with your dress.

Meanwhile If you haven’t got your undergarments yet, now it’s the moment to get them. Your seamstress might even be able to give you some advice or resources if you need.

Nearly every dress needs some alteration done and we have listed the 10 most common ones here!

Accessories

Accessories give the wedding dress the final touch and take it from the garment to an outfit. From my professional view the wedding outfit with just a hairdo can look bare and unfinished. I strongly advice you to get something on your head, for example small pearls or flowers or a bridal hat or a veil. In addition headwear also gives nice details for photographs which are taken behind.

When it comes to bridal jewels I personally like something classy and matching with the rings. Pearls are always a good choice in my mind. You can also easily include colors or family keepsakes in the form of jewels.

With shoes go the comfort first as you’ll be on your feet long time. Get something you can easily walk with and get them early enough so you can use them in your dress fittings.

Hair and Make-up

Neat is the word when it comes to make-up and hair. However I don’t mean you should get everything sleeked down but make sure the products you use can hold through the day and that your style works in photos.

Smudgy, runny face is something that easily downgrades the whole look. That is why you should go with less if you’re not sure how well the make-up will stay. Having bit less also means you can touch up your face during the day without getting too much pigment and cake’y end result.

Open curls get easily straightened by humid air especially if you have long hair without much natural texture. Keeping your hair even half way up makes sure your style keeps well into the evening.
