Simple Valentine’s Day Ideas

Feb 13, 2018Relationship0 comments

Simple Valentine’s day ideas don’t have to be red roses, heart shaped balloons and chocolate wrapped in pink foil. Valentines day can be bit tacky and even stressful time as it is so relationship oriented. But if you’re dating, engaged or already married it’s a nice opportunity to remind yourselves why being in love is special.

Often the simplest things are the most meaningful. We have put together a list of great and tested ideas for Valentines Day. What’s even better? We give you a list of what you need to make this ideas work. Most of the things listed are really low cost stuff so you don’t have to worry about your bank account. Put the love first!

1. Movie night

Have an utterly relaxing movie night together. If you like watching things together, pick something that’s favorite of yours and get cozy on the couch or bed. Your spouse might be really exited to skip the night out and take things easy with you.

You need:

  • Something delicious to eat. Cook together or pick up take-a-way. Or buy something ready made from store and spruce it up with spices, sauces, extra butter or fresh salad. Or get silly and buy are hear shaped chocolate box. Everything goes as long as it’s tasty and there’s plenty to eat without having to get up.
  • Your favorite movie or tv show, no matter how childish or not Oscar-worthy it might be. Point is it’s something you both enjoy. Even better if you make your own commentary through the movie/tv show.
  • Blanket or something warm to wear.

2. Time for two

If you’re planning to woo your beau, you could start the night before. Give them longer good morning kiss, send them a snap of your lingerie of the day. Get yourself into the mood early on and tease them a bit. Be a bit silly and laugh together about your cliché seducing moves if you feel like it. Most likely, they’ll work anyways. 😉

You need:

  • Your favorite underwear. Or hit the store to get a new set.
  • Sexy mindset
  • Stock up the lubrication and condoms if you need them.
  • Get a clean, soft towel somewhere near the bed to take care of any sticky stuff

3. Bath time

Taking a bath, sauna or shower together is a great way to reconnect. Being physically naked often lowers the mental walls too. Skin on skin releases oxytocin (The happiness hormone!) even without sexy times. Wash each other’s hair or scrub in between the toes. Drink hot chocolate or wine and enjoy the warmth and closeness together.

You need:

  • Bathtub or shower or sauna
  • Soap with lovely scent or is otherwise a bit extra compared to what you normally use. It doesn’t have to be expensive.
  • Clean towels! There is nothing better than a fresh towel.
  • Something to drink before, during or after. If you take a long warm bath you need to hydrate afterwards with water or juice.
  • Soft music adds a nice touch. Maybe candles or tea lights too if you feel like it.

4. Gym date

Going outside or exercising together can be the perfect way to shake things up bit at the Valentines Day. If you both are into moving, skip the separate gym hours and go running together or get sweaty at gym while spotting for each other. Your spouse might give you plenty of extra motivation and praise and you should really do it for them too. Those endorphins will carry you the rest of the evening!

You need:

  • Your exercise clothes
  • Shower stuff
  • Water bottle for keeping yourself hydrated
  • Small snack for both of you is a nice surprise after exercising.

5. Dinner date at home

Do you like cooking and baking? Spending an evening in the kitchen just by the two of you or even preparing a full dinner for your spouse would be a great way to celebrate Valentines. The food doesn’t have to be expensive of difficult to make. Our favorite menu is home made lasagne with big salad on the side, iced water and something baked as a dessert with coffee or tea. If you want to be extra fancy get appetizers before the main course.  Crostini or a small cheese spread will do the thing. Having a sit down dinner with a candle and music can be a really special experience.

You need:

  • Fresh groceries according to what you are planning to make. Pick a recipe you have used before.
  • Drinks. Wine is nice but fresh water with some lemon can be equally tasty
  • Candle on the table to set the mood
  • Music on the background
  • Dessert, home made is always extra special and tasty
