Romantic Christmas Bucket List – Date Ideas for Engaged & Newlyweds

We love to craft bucket lists to make the most of the seasons! Every season is magical but none so much as winter time around holidays. This romantic Christmas bucket list is written specially for engaged couples or newlyweds in mind. Those first holiday seasons are sweet and you can make it even sweeter by doing things together.  We in Heili Bridal celebrate Christmas and winter solstice with these 16 date night ideas and little activities that make you fall even more in love with the season and each other.

What to do when you want to stay at home?

In winter time, staying in your warm home sounds like the best idea ever. Turning the ordinary evening in into something special isn’t hard and you’re guaranteed to make new memories.

1. Decorate the Christmas tree. We trim the fake tree in our city apartment at the start of December. The day includes playing Christmas music, eating some treats and talking about what things we love best in holidays.

2. Read holiday book from childhood. Sharing something like that really makes you feel closer to your darling.

3. Go further down the memory lane and tell your best holiday memories, favorite foods and scents, most memorable gifts. Dream about future and speak about things you would like to experience, taste, see or do.

4. Have a relaxing home spa evening. Light some candles, add some Christmas scents and warm up your sauna, draw a bath or take a luxurious hot shower together. Have some soap tasting kisses, bit wine, wash yourselves and cuddle under the blankets afterwards for some alone time.

5. Watch Christmas movies. Our favorites are Christmas in Connecticut, White Christmas, Snowman and Santa Claus & the Magic Drum. We also love to watch some Hallmark Christmas movies in all their sugar sweet romantic glory. It’s a great way to get some laughs together or maybe even some ultimate date night ideas.

If you are feeling artsy try these Christmas things

Give a change to your creativity and do some arts and crafts together.

1. Put up some fairy lights. In Finland it gets dark early in the winter so lights go up earliest in October or November. It’s soft, romantic light, great for cuddles in the evening.

2. Craft gingerbread house. Bake miniature dream home together or future holiday cottage!

3. Listening and SINGING Christmas carols. We do this so much! They’re lovely and make us feel good. Car drives are so much fun when you sing together, it doesn’t matter if you can’t carry a tune. It’s just fun!

4. Wrap gifts with lots of giggles. Put on a well loved movie or some tunes or just discuss of your days while letting your hands do their thing.

Embrace the Holiday weather and go outside

Put on more clothes and get ready for some fresh air. Winter can be very pretty and it’s always interesting to see what’s going on during slower time of the year.

    1. Take a forest walk with hot drinks and enjoy nature.

    2. Go to see holiday windows and lights and enjoy when you can give your honest opinion of them to someone who understands your taste.

    3. Get a Christmas tree. We’re lucky to be able to cut our own for family home from my uncle’s forest and it’s always an event. There’s lots of jokes of what kind of a tree we get this year and if we should have saved the last years tree for more ‘minimalistic’ look.

    4. Donate to the cause of your choose. We try to do this every year if we can. It’s important to help people around the year, but often Christmas time puts strain to families and donating time or money can make all the difference for happy holiday time.

The Holidays are perfect time for treating you and your honey

Life should be enjoyed and you’re allowed to treat each others. You don’t have to deserve things, just do them.

    1. Treat yourself and your darling. Drink some mulled wine, eat chocolate and pastries together or make some sinful hot chocolate with all kinds of extra toppings. Or how about a holiday platter!

    2. Have an advent calendar, which we do as couple’s event. We fill the calendar with small gifts to each other so that both of us get 12. It can be something sweet to share during a coffee break or more personal like new socks. Think about stocking stuffers and getting one at every other day leading to Christmas.

    3. Holiday baking! We do this with Grandma. It’s lovely way to spend day together baking, talking and eating the goodies in the end. Often it’s also an opportunity to see relatives and family members as a couple.
